Please join us for the first ever Passion For Life . . . Passion For A Cure Gala on July 26, 2008 in support of breakthrough local research originating at the new U of R James. P. Wilmot Cancer Center and in memory of Barbara J. Fogarty. All proceeds from the Gala will be directly invested into local cancer research at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center so that others we know and love may have a longer, cancer-free life in the future. Click here to view a short movie about the Gala and the motivation behind it. In addition to attending our fun-filled Gala, there are many opportunities to help support this cause as outlined in this website. Whatever way you and your organization can contribute to help further this life saving research in quest of finding a cure or prolonging life, it would be greatly appreciated. Together, we have the power to change the lives of cancer patients in our community and beyond. THE RESEARCH In Rochester, the Robert Flavin Shaped Beam Surgery Center is the first, and may still be the only center in the world, devoted to the comprehensive treatment of cancer metastases. Patients come from all over the world to be treated at this renowned facility. Studies that started in Rochester, and therefore benefited our community first, are now being tested nationally. These studies, while enjoying much success, are merely tips of the iceberg. Though still works in progress, these studies can proudly boast many disease-free patients, many years after being diagnosed with incurable metastasis cancer. We want to raise funds to make sure this important work continues so that someday all of these “incurable” cancers will someday prove to be otherwise, using this new form of treatment. |
